The Golden Gate

San Francisco and bridge aficionados know that the term “Golden Gate” refers to the ocean’s passage into the Bay, not the bridge itself. The Golden Gate is a beautiful natural setting that just happens to have the engineering and architectural marvel of the Golden Gate Bridge planted smack dab on top of it. It is a photographic showcase, with the beauty of the bay climate and the City as additional backdrops.

The Bridge has been photographed countless times, and by much better photographers than me, and with the ability to visit it repeatedly looking for the best conditions to facilitate their artistic interpretation. On my last visit, I ran into a photographer who lives just 5 minutes from the bridge and photographs it weekly. Such an opportunity. I don’t have that luxury, so I try to make the most of the chances I do get.
