Left Texas and daughter no. 3 just before 5am today for the 5th day of driving after a delightful 3-day visit. Weather is good, and what with the early start on a Sunday, traffic has been very light. Today’s first charging stop is at a Red E charging starion (new brand to me) located in a big Shell travel plaza with a large store, multiple food options (all bad for you), nice restrooms, and places to sit and relax. The Red E chargers are pretty new 160Kw HPC machines each capable of charging two cars simultaneously (a real plus). The first one I tried did not want to start up (uh oh), but the second one did fine.
Tuscaloosa bound!
The weather did not stay good. Coming out of Jackson MS, I encountered an intense thunderstorm that brought traffic on I20 to a standstill. I saw multiple trees down, including one on top of a car on the westbound side, you know those incredibly tall pines along southern roads. Epic thunderstorm.
