Leaving Capri

We’ve written about Italy’s Amalfi Coast and Positano more than once before. It’s one of our favorite places on the planet. The scenery, the people, the food, the sense of serenity. If Jean-Luc Picard were to say “Computer, show me sublime,” it might well display the Amalfi Coast. Or, it might take a slight detour out into the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrento Peninsula for the island of Capri. During our first visit to Positano, we took two trips over to Capri, made some wonderful friends—Antonio, we’re coming back!—enjoyed superb food in both Capri and Anacapri, visited the Blue Grotto, rode the chairlift to the top of Mount Solaro, and made hundreds of images, including some of The Faraglioni from the stunning Augustus Gardens and Belvedere di Tragara high above. Back in Positano, a quick check of TPE showed that the setting sun could be visible through Faraglione di Mezzo, the center stack. So, we chartered a small boat to take us out the following afternoon. The sea was calm, and with a light touch at the wheel, our captain found us the perfect spot to capture this sun star through the arch just after one of the many yachts had passed through.
