There will be more to come on this—as if anyone needs it with all the press and reviews. But Apple’s new Night Mode in the iPhone 11 series is very impressive. Google beat Apple to the punch with their night capabilities, but they are kludgy to use and produce markedly unnatural results. No surprise that’s not the case with Apple.

The new Camera app does not provide the same level of “pro” capabilities as third party apps like Halide, but for a lot of shooting, it is more than sufficient, and offers significantly expanded capabilities over previous versions. For a photographer, the 11 is a “must upgrade.”
