Changing Conditions

Iceland sits in the North Atlantic, and the entire country is exposed to the ocean’s influence. Earlier today was exceptionally clear, but as we passed Skogafoss, the falls were all but invisible in the storm, and seaside was whited out. This makes for an odd sort of driving: a combination of serenity and white knuckle. There is nothing to photograph, but everything to see. The entire country has essentially been "closed" since a storm out of the northwest shut down Keflavik, and gradually forced closure of almost all roads north and south. Vieri has been masterful at preparing for this, making sure we are closest to where we want to photograph once the roads re-open, and dealing with 50mph+ crosswinds while driving. In the meantime, it's snow, hot chocolate, and beer.
